Podcast player for android. Day 1
So i’ve finally started to organize myself, and i’m going to jump right into making my own podcast player for android. Reason why is because all of the ones i can find on the android market at the moment.. well.. They suck. In what ways, you ask?
- They have ads – Don’t plaster ads on your apps. That goes for everyone. If you really want people to use your app, then use alternative methods. And i don’t mean “Just scrap the ads”. Make them optional. Add a donation link. Or add a pro version WITHOUT removing essential features such as being able to update all feeds at once (For a podcast app) and downloading all new podcast at once.
- Proshmo – When people make the free version severely crippled, and then they tease you by removing key features. That’s just a scumbag thing to do.
- Poor design – Take a design class, and then make an app. Either that, or just use the OS look. You can’t go wrong with that. In most SDKs i know, you get that for free anyway.
A few reasons.. But there you go. I aim to make my app free and full of features. And i want a good design too. I feel that i can do all of this. I’ve done a lot of apps in the past for various platforms, so i can’t imagine this would be too hard.
My payment methods will be two different things. Or maybe three.. I might add a pro version which just adds a bunch of extra features (And doesn’t cripple the normal version.. Which i won’t call “free” by the way). The second one being donation button. If someone finds my app to be good, why not donate? And third. Optional ads. Maybe even have you able to turn on an option which says “Turn on ads for a week”. Just to pay a little, if you’re feeling generous. But either way, it’s an optional thing.
So yea. Starting off.
