Pros and cons of the Nexus 4

Been watching a lot of Nexus 4 reviews as of late. Wanna hype myself up for later this month when i finally order it. I can not wait! It seems to be right up my alley. Latest android updates since it runs on vanilla android makes me a happy camper. Then it’s speedy as all hell. Looking very great with the glittery kind of back on it too. Some videos shows it off, and it looks totally fabulous.

Some “drawbacks” though. No LTE, standard battery time, low storage and standard camera. Seems to be the common drawbacks reviewers bring up.

  1. No LTE – What is LTE even? I’ve heard from plenty of analysts about the technology, but no one seems to be able to point out exactly how much better than 3G it is. I’m sure it’s faster. But let me level with you. Would you rather have a slightly faster network speeds, which will also get you faster to the data limits you will no doubt have and giving you a worse batterylife to boot; or, would you like a phone that’s none of that? Pretty obvious for my money. Maybe it works for some though. Personally, i don’t care… Also, in Sweden, 3G is plenty fast enough, especially for the network i’m going to use it on. GSM/3G.
  2. Standard battery life – This is a bit of a shame. I was hoping to upgrade from the batterylife of the ipod 4, but i guess i’ll get one just as good, if not slightly better. A real complaint, but a minor one.
  3. Low storage – I have to admit that it is a bit strange that they don’t offer it in more than 16Gb, i don’t mind it at all. My ipod, which is my current multimedia device that i’ve had for more than two years now, only has 8Gb, and i find that, if i just clean some old data on it once in a while, i can be as relentless as i want, in terms of filling it with data. I mean, i’ve had it for that long, and i’m sitting on about 2Gbs free storage right now. I know how to manage myself, and for me, it’ll be a 2x upgrade for storage, so i’m all good.
  4. Standard camera – It has LED flash (Which i love using as a flashlight on my 5-year old xperia mini, that i got from my mom ages ago) and it produces good quality in my book. Sure, not the best ever, but certainly better than my ipod. So all good here for me.

So there you have it. My thoughts on the cons. I recommend checking out the videos on it. It’s quite the site to see, and it makes my vanity itch.
